Sprint Raising Its Early Termination Fee To $350?
If you want to get out of your Sprint contract a little early, it looks like you may have to shell out a little more cash in order to do so. A screenshot of memo sent to dealers has surfaced on the web, and indicates the carrier will be raising its ETF to $350 for “advanced devices” such as smartphones, tablets and netbooks starting September 9th.
Currently Sprint charges customers who want to end their contracts early $200.
The rising cost of ending a contract may be due in part to the rising cost of cell phones. Sprint (and other carriers) often offer a hefty discount on the price of handsets when you sign a new 2-year agreement. So, while an unlocked version of a phone may cost you $600, the same phone with a 2-year agreement will run you only $200.
