LG has confirmed that many of its existing handsets will in fact be upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich, and has offered a few details on when we will see those upgrades happen.
In the announcement (made on the companies Facebook page) LG stated it”will be taking all possible measure to offer a smooth OS upgrade in a timely manner. The exact start dates can vary by market, as each country can have different requirements, depending on the carrier and the smartphone model… Further details on the ICS OS upgrade, including their exact start dates, will be released prior to their commencement.”
According to the announcement, in the second quarter of 2012 we’ll see updates for:
- LG Optimus LTE
- Prada phone by LG 3.0
- LG Optimus 2X
- LG Optimus Sol
- LG my Touch Q
- LG Eclipse
In the third quarter ICS updates will drop for:
- LG Optimus 3D
- LG Optimus Black
- LG Optimus Big
- LG Optimus Q2
- LG Optimus EX
While its great that we’re going to see updates for all those handsets, waiting until the third quarter of 2012 for the update is quite a long time. Do any of you current own one of the mentioned LG handsets? What do you think about the time-frame for the release?
