If you were hoping this year’s Consumer Electronics Show would throw up more details about the Asus Padfone, then you’re going to be a little disappointed. Although the company is in Las Vegas this week, it has decided to hold onto its Padfone announcement until Mobile World Congress in February.

Asus does have the device on show at CES, according to TechRadar, but it seems it’s refusing to give up any details surrounding its internals or its release. The only thing the company will confirm at this point is that the Padfone be unveiled at Mobile World Congress 2012.

What we do know about the device at present is that it will feature a 4.3-inch display and will be powered by the Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. Its most impressive feature is a special accessory that transforms the Padfone from a smartphone into a tablet, which I’m sure you’re already aware of.

We also know there there will be an entirely new range of apps developed exclusively for Asus and its new device, and that the company still has some bugs to iron out before the device gets its unveiling in Barcelona next month. Whether or not the device will boast NVIDIA’s quad-core Tegra 3 processor, however, remains a mystery.

But at least we know when the Padfone will make its debut. So if you have your heart set on this device, you know there’s not long to wait now before all is revealed.
