Up until September’s Amazon event, the Kindle was the company’s defining product. But with the Kindle Touch and Kindle Fire soon hitting the scene, the immensely popular e-Reader, now in its fourth generation, has seen changes, some good, some not so good.

With Amazon’s current Kindle Lineup, it’s clear the company wanted to make a distinction between its three new devices: bare-bones, touch and full-fledged tablet. If you’ve ever used a previous Kindle, you’ll be familiar with the solid hardware, snappy speed and easy to read screen; this generation’s iteration is no different. The Kindle now comes sans keyboard, sporting a bite-sized form factor while still retaining a comfortable screen size and light weight.

In the end, it ultimately comes down to preference. The Kindle lacks the bells and whistles of it’s more expensive brothers, most notably a keyboard, but that wasn’t something that bothered me in the least.
