Let me start by saying that for the last year I have avoided stories about the potential of the iPhone going to Verizon.  However, the latest reports are pretty hard to ignore since in the past month or so we have heard a bunch about field testing and production runs of the CDMA version of the iPhone.

The latest rumors have convinced me that Verizon will indeed be landing the iPhone, if not in January soon there after. Several customer service call centers whom tout large wireless carriers as their clients have been involved in a hiring spree. Two such call centers – Teleperformance, based in Salt Lake City and Ryla, based in Kennesaw, Georgia – are advertising for over 1700 positions around the country for major wireless carriers. Teleperformance is advertising for representatives to take inbound calls for a “major wireless cell phone service retailer” as well as up to six call center manager positions, while Ryla cites openings in call centers servicing “a Fortune 500 cellular/telecommunications company that expects to increase its marketing and sales”.

These employment advertisements would not typically garner much interest, but frankly, with the descriptions of “Fortune 500” and “major wireless retailer” it seems as if that would limit the prospects to AT&T or Verizon. The latter of which would have a large increase in sales with the introduction of the iPhone.

The kicker here is that Teleperformance has worked with both Verizon and Apple in the past to fill employment needs, so naturally speculation leads to buildup for the Verizon iPhone release.

Assuming Verizon does in fact land the iPhone in early 2011, will you as a Verizon customer dive into iPhone ownership? As an iPhone owner on AT&T will you stay with AT&T or jump ship to Verizon? The fallout will be interesting to watch.
