BlackBerry PlayBook May Run Google Apps
The BlackBerry PlayBook may be able to run Google Apps. According to Bloomberg, three people “familiar with the matter” have indicated that RIM is looking to integrate Android into the PlayBook, which would allow PlayBook owners access to the more than 130,000 apps currently in the Android Marketplace.
We’ve talked a lot this week about how developer support can make or break a tablet. By allowing customers access to both the current BlackBerry applications store and Android applications, RIM definitely stands a better chance of success with the PlayBook than it would otherwise.
Of course, all of this is still in the “rumor” stages, so in the end we may not see any Android support for the tablet. Rumors yesterday have the PlayBook arriving at Office Depot in mid-April, with a 16GB version priced at $500.
What do you think? Would you be more likely to purchase a PlayBook if yuou coudl run Android apps on it as well?
