Yesterday afternoon, Re/Code said that Apple had moved its plans to announce the iWatch in October and will instead reveal the wearable during Apple’s planned press conference on Sept. 9, where it’s also expected to introduce two models of the iPhone 6. Within mere hours of that news hitting, Samsung and LG pushed out press releases announcing new smartwatches. Coincidence?

Motorola on Thursday officially sent out invites for a press event that it’s hosting in Chicago on Sept. 4.

While Motorola has introduced several new phones since it launched the Moto X last year, we’re overdue for an upgrade. Most rumors have pointed toward a device dubbed the “Moto X+1,” which we expect to make its debut during the press event. We also think the company will use the time to discuss the Moto 360, including the smartwatch’s launch date and price, in addition to possibly the Moto G2, a successor to the popular and lower-cost Moto G.

Samsung recently announced that it will hold press conferences in Berlin, New York and Beijing on Sept. 3. The invite pretty much confirmed that this is where Samsung is going to unveil the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 to the rest of the world for the very first time. TechnoBuffalo will be covering the event live from two of those locations, Berlin where we’ll be on the ground for IFA, and New York.
