Two Facebook Phones On The Way

HTC will be debuting two new Facebook-branded phones at Mobile World Congress next month. According to information obtained by City A.M the high-end phones will have Facebook branding and will be running a slightly-altered version of Android.  Facebook user’s news feeds will be displayed directly on the home screen for the phone, and the phone will reportedly offer integrated email and calling to Facebook friends.

While still just a rumor, it seems like a fairly likely one. Facebook has been fairly aggressive in the mobile market, recently even launching an application so non-smartphone owners can use Facebook from their mobile phones. Releasing a Facebook-branded phone seems a likely next step for the company, as far as the mobile market goes. Facebook has repeatedly said it doesn’t plan to get into the mobile phone business, but an HTC-branded phone would be a small step in that direction.

Mobile World Congress will be held February 14-17 in Barcelona. We’ll have to sit and wait until then to find out whether the rumors of the phone are in fact true.

Would you buy a Facebook phone if one was available? What kind of features would you want to see on it?
