M.C Hammer Launching Search Engine Wiredoo

You may know him from his hits U Can’t Touch This and 2 Legit 2 Quit, but now that the iconic rap star isn’t pumping out the jams he’s pumping some cash into internet startups – Hammer’s newest venture? A search engine called WireDoo.

Hammer announced the search engine this week at the Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco (check out an interview he did afterwards about the service above). Unlike rival search engines like Google and Bing, WireDoo does a “relationship search” on topics, categorizing them by keywords and related topics.

WireDoo’s tagline is “Search once and see what’s related,” which is what the search engine aims to do. A search for house, for instance, involves not only the house, but what schools are located nearby the crime rate in the area, and the home’s proximity to things like public transportation or grocery stores.

WireDoo is currently in a private beta (so it’s not open to the public), but will certainly be something interesting to see when it does launch.

What do you think? Could Hammer’s relationship search be a challenger for the other search giants?
