World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Releases On Dec. 7th

We hate to tell you parents, but when your kids come home from college for their winter break this year, don’t expect to be seeing a whole lot of them. No, they won’t be catching up with their friends, or seeing their girlfriend who is also home on break, instead they will be locked up with a computer playing the latest expansion to the highly addictive World of Warcraft, Cataclysm.

World of Warcraft: CataclysmBlizzard, the company behind the insanely popular game, announced the release date for the next expansion today. So, everyone mark your calendars for Dec. 7th, and expect a whole lot of people to be calling in sick to work when that happens.

The new expansion will be sold either as a download or in retail stores for $40. There will also be a collector’s edition available for $80 which will include:

  • The game
  • Art of the Cataclysm art book, which clocks in at 176 pages
  • Lil’ Deathwing exclusive in-game pet
  • Behind-the-scenes DVD
  • Soundtrack CD with 17 instrumental tracks from the game
  • Special-edition mouse pad depicting Deathwing menacing the ravaged continents of Azeroth

If you’re deeply into the game, it sounds like the collector’s edition may be a must have item for you this holiday season.

What say you?  Are you ready for the Cataclysm?
