Scribblenauts Remix now Available on iOS

Starting right now, you can snag a mash-up of one of the best, most creative Nintendo DS franchises for the iOS at the price of five smackers. The game in question? Scribblenauts Remix from 5th Cell. Buy it and you’ll get 40 of the best levels from the original games and 10 brand new iOS specific levels.

The basic premise of Scribblenauts is that players must get Maxwell, the game’s hero, to the single star on each level by using their imagination and vocabulary. How that happens, however, is the fun part. Say, for instance, the star is sitting at the top of a tree. In Scribblenauts, you wouldn’t just run and jump to get it, you’d enter the word “lumberjack,” summon the worker and have him chop the tree down for you.

That type of puzzle solving stands as the basis for the series. The levels can be quick, easily digested rounds of entertainment, so that makes this transition to the iOS perfect.

Here’s what’s new to the experience, according to the App Store listing, for Apple‘s devices:

BRAND NEW LEVELS
Includes 10 original, in-depth levels exclusive to iOS devices.

PLAY ON MULTIPLE DEVICES
Use iCloud to seamlessly switch between the iPad, iPhone and iTouch without ever having to restart your game.

INNOVATIVE USER INTERFACE
Use the “shake to undo” function to remove created objects simply by shaking your Apple device.

CREATE AND SHARE
Use Game Center to check out the leaderboard to see how your score ranks and to compare game achievements with friends. You can also post game statistics to your Facebook and Twitter profiles.

It’s worth noting that the first Scribblenauts was known for its poor control scheme. We  haven’t tried this new iOS adaptation just yet, so we can’t speak for how the game has been handled for the analog control free platform. If the mechanical setup works, Scribblenauts Remix could stand among the best games for iOS.

And, hey, five bucks is cheap.
