Sony Announces Absurd $10,000 Uncharted 3 Contest
This contest is really only related to Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception in both name and theme; beyond that, well, it’s one of the most awesomely absurd plays we’ve seen in a long time. As Kevin Butler intros in the video you see above, those that want to win some cash need to reach out as if their grabbing the ring featured in Uncharted 3 and hold their pose for several hours. You’ll do it in front of your web cam, so Sony will actually be able to verify your actions.
Upon writing this story, the longest daily winner stands at more than eight hours of time reaching forward. That “champion” has already earned themselves $500 for the longest time in one day, and they currently stand in first place for the entire $10,000 competition.
We share this with you because we both love what we’re seeing and hope to actually hear of some members in the herd taking on the challenge. If you’re flat broke, this make be a good way to come up with some quick scratch. And by that we mean a “totally crazy way.”
It’s absurd, but nothing will be quite as ridiculous as Acclaim’s “Name Your Baby Turok” campaign that ran back in 2002. To celebrate the launch of Turok: Evolution, Acclaim was going to give the first family to birth a child and name it Turok $10,000 in US savings bonds. It was, all at once, hilarious, awesome and downright silly.
Head to the official site, register, activate your web cam and hold your hand out for like 10 hours. You may win $500 or $10,000. You may also win some weird variety of tennis elbow. That’s a win/win/win situation, folks.
