Nintendo 3DS Coming To The Louvre

If you visit the Louvre in Paris this summer a Nintendo 3DS may be your tour guide. Starting in March the iconic museum will be replacing its audio guides with Nintendo 3DS consoles. The guides will allow visitors to choose their location on a virtual map, select a particular journey through the museum, and listen to recorded guides for the museum s a whole.

According AFP, Nintendo provided 5,000 of the consoles to the Louvre and developed the virtual tour guide, while the Louvre maintained control over the guide’s content.

Updated smartphone and iPad content is also in the works, which would allow you to download pay-for content to your smartphone or iPad and use it as a guide through the museum.
