CES 2011: HP Slate 500 Hands On (Video)

HP purchased Palm a while back, and it is well known that they are about to adapt the webOS into a new tablet called the PalmPad.  While that is definitely happening in the not too distant future, HP is still progressing with the long discussed HP Slate 500.

Our own Jon Rettinger and I stopped by the Intel booth yesterday to check it out, and we have to say we walked away less than impressed with this Windows 7-based tablet.

As you can see from the video above, the responsiveness of the touchscreen was less than desirable, and the overall operating system felt sluggish.  Is it the hardware?  Is it that Windows 7 really shouldn’t be on a tablet?  We’ll let you be the judge, but I can certainly say I won’t be going anywhere near this device.
