Samsung Phone Sales Set New Record, Top 300 Million For 2011

Samsung says it has sold 300 million handsets as of late November, surpassing the companies sales of 280 million phones in all of 2010. According to Samsung, those sales number equate to the company selling a whopping nine handsets every second, adding up to 820,000 every day.

In October Samsung overtook Apple as the world’s leading smartphone vendor. At the time, Samsung had shipped 20 million smartphones in the quarter, trumping Apple’s 17.1 million.

The numbers do not include any sales from December. With the Galaxy Nexus expected to hit store shelves in the United States this month, those sales numbers are bound to grow considerably.
