Leaked Best Buy Ad Gives the Galaxy Nexus Its ‘Nexus Prime’ Name Back
Shortly before its launch, someone behind the scenes at either Google or Samsung (probably the latter) decided it would be a good idea to rename the Samsung Nexus Prime. They called it the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, a name which allows the device to fit seamlessly into Samsung’s Galaxy line of smartphones.
As it turns out, Best Buy prefers the old name, and so it appear that that’s the one it’s going to use. In a leaked ad featured in Best Buy’s December catalog, the retailer features the “Samsung Nexus Prime” on its rear cover, and the “Samsung Nexus Prime 4G LTE” on an ad within.
Phandroid believes the device may have been rebranded for Verizon, and that it’ll be only the only carrier to offer the device as the Nexus Prime:
Holy cow. Verizon must have made some last minute changes to the Galaxy Nexus rebranding the device with, I’m assuming, an exclusive Verizon title. The Verizon Galaxy Nexus will officially be dubbed the Nexus Prime.
However, there are suspicions that this is simply a Best Buy printing error, and that the device will continue to sport its Galaxy Nexus moniker.
