Verizon and Motorola today announced a few new additions to their Droid lineup of Android powered smartphones. In addition to the Droid 4, VZW will start carrying a purple version of the Droid Razr. The new color will hit retailers in the coming weeks with the same $199.99 on-contract pricing as the white and black RAZRs currently in stores.

Razr’s also getting a big brother in the just announced Droid Razr Maxx. Billed as “the longest-lasting smartphone on the block,” the 8.99mm thick device features LTE support, an extra long-life battery, and 32GB of internal storage, which is twice the capacity of the standard Razr. Both Razr and Razr Maxx are compatible with Moto’s line of accessories including the 10.1-inch Lapdock 100, 14-inch Lapdock 500 Pro with built-in webcam and Ethernet connection, HD Dock, HD Station and vehicle navigation mount.

Razr Maxx will sell for $299.99 on contract when it arrives in Verizon stores, marking a $100 premium over Droid Razr.

According to Motorola Mobility, both devices will also be receiving upgrades to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. No time frame for the updates was given.
