Sky Go for U.K. Android Users Will Launch ‘In Coming Months’

Sky Go for iOS & PC

If you’re a Sky TV subscriber in the U.K., then the Sky Go application is a must-have for your iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad — especially if you’re a sports fan. It allows you to watch Sky TV channels while you’re on the move so that you can keep up with the latest news and sporting events — all you have to do is login with your Sky account.

As things stand, Sky Go is only available to iOS users — and on PC — but according to a TechRadar report, Android users will also get the app “in the coming months.” In a short statement, a Sky spokesperson confirmed:

“Sky Go on Android, it will be launching in the coming months.”

While the statement isn’t at all specific about the application’s release date, it is promising to Android users who were worried that they may have been forgotten about. Sky had previously promised the Android app would launch “this year,” but as 2011 draws to a close, it seemed as though Sky was going to miss that deadline.

The company recently revealed in its quarterly financial reports that there are a staggering 1.6 million Sky Go users in the U.K. everyday, which is an impressive figure considering the service is currently only available on a limited number of devices.

Will you be looking forward to Sky Go on Android?
