Nexus S Users Report Color Issues After Update

Google Nexus S users are reporting that after a manual updated to Android 2.3.3 that screen colors are coming up much duller than before, and whites are appearing yellowish in tint.

We’ve been receiving tips from readers that the update to Android Gingerbread 2.3.3 is producing some unexpected results.  The new software is meant to fix a rebooting bug with the handset as well as add some updates for Bluetooth, Near Field Communications and graphics.  Although the new firmware has not officially gone out yet over T-Mobile’s network, the update has appeared on Google’s servers, prompting anxious users to go ahead and do a manual upgrade.

Disgruntled users are now flocking to message forums such as the official Google Mobile site to express their unhappiness with the update, as well as on sites such as Android Central.  It appears that the graphics update may have gone wrong somehow.

One of our tipsters also has provided us with photos of the screen issue.  You can also see comparison shots down below of an updated Nexus S (on the right) next to a ZTE Blade.  The Nexus S is sporting a Super AMOLED screen, so it definitely shouldn’t have the dull sheen it appears to have in these photos.  (click either one for a larger view)

Something is definitely not right here, but it’s hard to tell what could have cause such a drastic change in colors.

Are any other readers having this issue?  Let us know in the comments.
