Google Android Gingerbread Release Imminent

It looks like Android 3.0 Gingerbread is almost ready for release.  How do we know this?  There’s now a giant gingerbread man on Google’s campus.

For whatever reason, Google likes to put up symbolic statues on its campus each time it is ready to release another version of its Android operating system.  The company usually does this a few weeks prior to the release of the code to developers, so it would appear that we are finally closing in on the version of Android that will support tablets.

Gee, Samsung … you couldn’t have waited another month or two to release the Galaxy Tab?  Just had to rush it out with Android 2.2?  You knew Gingerbread was coming, and know there is a giant statue at the Google campus to tell you such!
