CES 2011: AT&T 4G LTE Demo Shown on New HTC Device
While at the AT&T developers conference at CES 2011, we had a chance to get some hands on time with the carriers just announced 4G network, and what do you know, they showed it to us on a prototype HTC phone. A double whammy of coolness. In the test we saw, the network was pulling down of 60 MBPS, which is insanely fast, but not real-world realistic, as no one else was on the network. They wouldn’t show us the up speeds, but we’d expect them to be in the 9-12 range.
Once the network is lit up, expect real-world speeds of around 6-10, which is close to what most people have in their homes. It’s a great time to be a data sucking geek. Look for some hot LTE action around the middle of next year, and a full network rollout by the end of 2012.
