Android users should really get used to life without Adobe Flash Player, because we know it won’t be around forever. But in keeping with Google’s earlier promise, Adobe has released its 11.1 update to Flash Player for mobile devices, which introduces support for those running the new Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.

That’s great news for those of you in the U.S. who picked up a brand new Samsung Galaxy Nexus on Verizon yesterday, and it means you won’t have to live without Flash as U.K. users have done for a number of weeks. This will, however, be the last update for mobile Flash — apart from the odd security update here and there.

Adobe announced last month that it has killed Flash Player for mobile devices, and that it will no longer adapt the software for handhelds. Though it will continue to support existing versions. The company has chosen to focus on HTML5 products instead.

Its latest release will cover Android users while Ice Cream Sandwich has its day, but it’s highly unlikely that Flash will appear in Google’s next-generation Android 5.0 operating system. Enjoy it while you can!
