Siri to Field Luxurious Inquiries Inside Mercedes-Benz Cars
Apple’s Siri is getting all dolled up and will be putting on the Ritz inside Mercedes-Benz vehicles. The German luxury auto maker has plans to integrate Apple’s wildly popular voice recognition system into its A-Class electronics system, granting the driver and passengers access to their iPhones’ applications and programs. The Daimler crew is titling the system the Drive Kit Plus, which will be activated by Mercedes-Benz’s Digital DriveStyle Application. With this symbiotic system, drivers and passengers will actually be able to see their iPhone screens on the in-dash LCD screen.
They can then use Siri to strike up the London Philharmonic for a little Bach, check the NASDAQ reports, find the nearest shoe shining kiosk and Tweet about their work week that consists of golfing with clients. Facebook, Twitter and Aupeo Personal Radio will come pre-installed via the Drive Kit Plus system, and Garmin navigation will be vocalized by Siri as well.
Mercedes plans to hire Siri for its A-Class series cars first this Fall, but we’ll get a preview of her debut at the Geneva Auto Show next week.
