iTunes Match Setting Appears in iOS 5
It’s been a week since Apple launched iOS 5 and iCloud, but still notably absent since its announcement earlier this Summer is iTunes Match. It seems the wait is just about over, as an iTunes Match toggle switch has appeared in the Music section of the Settings app in iOS 5.
If you try and toggle iTunes Match to On, it will prompt you to sign up through iTunes using a computer, so the service is still obviously unavailable to the public. Once the developer version of iTunes 10.5.1 does go public, however, iTunes Match is expected to become functional. A look on Apple’s website still shows the service as “coming soon,” but it can’t be much longer as we head into the final days of October which was their expected target time of release.
For $24.99 a year, Apple’s new service will match songs in your music collection with those in the iTunes store. They will then be added to your iCloud library, allowing you to listen to your music anytime, on any device at 256-Kbps AAC DRM-free quality.
