Is Apple Building a Cheaper 8GB iPhone?

iPhone-4

Could Apple be making a new cheaper version of the iPhone 4? According to Reuters- yes. The site claims that Apple’s Asian suppliers have begun making a new lower-priced version of the iPhone 4 sporting an 8GB flash drive.

The iPhone 4 launched in June of last year and has thus far only been available in 16GB and 32GB sizes. An 8GB version could be offered at a lower price tag than those models, allowing Apple to capture more of the handset market- specifically in emerging markets.

Apple is also expected to release a new iPhone in the coming months with a more impressive spec sheet than the current model.

What do you think? Is a new cheaper version of the iPhone 4 a good idea?
