According to the Wall Street Journal, Sprint will be getting the iPhone 5 when it is released later this year. WSJ sources “familiar with the matter” claim the carrier will start selling the handset mid-October.

If the rumors are true, that will likely put the iPhone 5 being released elsewhere in mid-October as well, a few weeks after its rumored late September/early October release date.

Apple has yet to announce the iPhone 4 successor.

Sprint’s stock prices started to rise today after the news the #3 carrier may be getting the phone hit the web.
