Fire Breaks Out at Foxconn Plant in Yantai
Reports are coming in that a fire broke out at a Foxconn plant in Yantai, China at around 10:20 AM local time this morning.
MICGadget is reporting that the fire broke out after an explosion was heard in the color spraying section of the plant, implying that this may be related to a mishap with aerosol paints. There is no official word as of yet as to what led to the explosion.
This is the second such industrial accident for the manufacturer this year with the last one happening in May at an iPad production facility which resulted in the death of two workers. There are no reports yet as to any injuries or fatalities in the latest accident.
The Yantai Foxconn facility is primarily focused on building PCs, Sony laptops, computer components and printers. The plant houses over 80,000 employees, all of which appear to have been evacuated. On scene reports indicate that 10 fire trucks were involved in extinguishing the blaze, and that it took around 30 minutes to put out.
