Bloomberg Tweet Claims iPad 3 Production Underway with LTE Access

Bloomberg iPad 3Apple has reportedly kicked off iPad 3 production ahead of the company’s predicted March launch timeframe. No specific date was offered by Bloomberg‘s tweet other than to say production has begun, but the company did offer some pretty significant tidbits: sharper screen, quad-core processor and LTE access.

Citing a source close to the matter, Bloomberg said Apple is implementing LTE technology into its iPad before the iPhone “because the tablet has a bigger battery and can better support the power requirements of the newer technology.” In addition, the new display will will have pixels that “are small enough to make the images look like printed material.” If Bloomberg’s information is legit, the better screen would make the perfect companion to Apple’s rumored digital textbook announcement at the end of January. On the processing end, the quad-core chip will make for much better video playback, “playing almost instantly because of the additional graphics processing.” This would certainly make for better gaming capabilities as well, one would imagine.

Rumors have been flying every which way over the last two months, with many outlets speculating the iPad 3 to come with a Retina display, upgraded cameras and A6 quad-core processor. There was never any doubt Apple would launch a new tablet in the coming months; still, it’s exciting to see further confirmation of what we already know. The only question that remains is what upgrades will we see. March is just a hop, skip and a jump away right now.

Will the iPad 3 bring us enough new stuff to completely blow away the competition? Or has the rest of the industry caught up?
