Is Apple Working On New Apple TV?

Is Apple working on a new more powerful Apple TV?

9to5Mac has discovered a reference to Apple TV 3,1 within the iOS 5 file system. Apple TV is currently in version 2,1. The jump from version 2 to 3 indicates there might be major changes to the device coming rather than just a small upgrade.

At a minimum we’ll probably see Apple TV start using the same A5 processor used in the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 in the future. An A5 processor would make the device work faster, and would allow Apple TV to play back 1080p video.

The Apple TV 3,1 reference was found in a portion of the iOS 5 menu where Apple typically puts products it’s testing, which means whatever enhanced Apple TV may be out there it is currently in the testing phase (although that doesn’t mean it will be released).

What do you think? What enhancements would you like to see come to Apple TV?
