Apple TV Launches in Brazil Just In Time For Christmas

Apple TV Living Room Close Up

Users who celebrated the launch of the iTunes Store in Brazil earlier today by purchasing a ton of new movies will now have something to watch them on this Christmas. Apple has also provided Brazilians with its popular second-generation Apple TV, which is now available to purchase from the Apple online store.

It’s hardly a surprising move, according to The Next Web, which reports that the Brazilian national telecom agency only approved the device a couple of weeks ago. But it does put the final nail in the coffin for those who were dreaming of a new Apple TV before Christmas. Its launch in Brazil proves there’s still a little life left in the existing black box just yet.

Like all of Apple’s products in Brazil, the Apple TV is significantly more expensive than it is in other territories. While in the U.S. the device costs just $99, in Brazil it is priced at R$399 (approx. $217). Brazilian customers will, however, benefit from free shipping.

In addition to Brazil, the iTunes Store launched in 15 other Latin American countries this morning, including: Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, and Venezuela. Furthermore, Brazil became the first country outside of the U.S. to get Apple’s new iTunes Match service.

Will you be purchasing the Apple TV for R$399 in Brazil?
