Apple Releasing New Thunderbolt-enabled Cinema Displays?

Is Apple releasing a new Thunderbolt-enabled LED screen? Earlier this week several part numbers surfaced which were thought to be the numbers for new MacBook Air models as well as perhaps new MacBook Pro models.

The MacBook Pro model rumor evolved later in the week, and was through to be new MacBook and Mac mini models numbers. Now, MacRumors is suggesting that the additional numbers are instead for new Thunderbolt-enabled LED Cinema displays.

Images of the display with a number of Apple products are currently up on Apple’s website. The display looks identical to the current model; however, is sporting the Lion desktop background rather than the Snow Leopard background. One image shows two cinema displays attached to a MacBook Pro, this daisy-chained connection would only be possible with 15 and 17” MacBook Pros that support Thunderbolt.

I actually tend to believe the cinema display rumor a bit more than I do the MacBook Pro, Mac mini, or MacBook one. The cinema displays are up for an upgrade, and with the update of the MacBook Air, the majority of Apple’s notebook line will be Thunderbolt-enabled. It makes sense.

What do you think? Do you think Apple is going to update its cinema displays, or is it going to release an updated Mac Mini or MacBook instead?
