Apple Planning Media-Related Event For Late January?

Apple is reportedly planning a late-January event in New York City, the focus of which is expected to be “media related.”

According to All Things Digital, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Internet Services and Software Eddy Cue will be involved in the event, which will likely have a focus on advertising and publishing rather than hardware (so no new iPads). The last time Cue was in NYC on behalf of Apple was for the launch of The Daily, January’s event could be for something similar.

Apple is, as always, very tight-lipped on its public events. All Things D expects the event to be “important — but not large-scale,” which could lend itself to a number of different things.

What do you think Apple is planning?
