Apple Finally Catches Up With iPad Production
Shipments of Apple’s iPad have been running behind by seven to ten days since pre-orders of the device started nearly six months ago. With the holiday shopping season approaching, and the shipment windows not getting any shorter, this actually prompted us to suggest earlier this month that if you wanted one for Christmas you should now. Well, we still think that isn’t the worst advice in the world, but at least as of right now, production has finally caught up with demand … or perhaps demand dropped to the level of supply?

While I am sure it is a matter of Apple finally catching up to demand, the cynical side of me also has to ponder the idea that demand for Apple’s tablet could be declining. In those first few months of release Apple was proudly stating how many units they had sold. The last official statement from Apple in regards to iPad sales figures was a press release on June 22nd touting the fact that they had sold three million of the devices. So, in over two months we haven’t heard a word on sales.
To be fair, Apple tries to get all of its products down to a 24 hour shipping window, and the only device currently running behind is the iPhone 4 at a five to seven day delay. With new iPods to be announced this week, those are also certain to fall behind the normal 24 hour window.
With all of the praise Apple receives for everything it does, isn’t it more amusing to sit back once in a while and speculate that its sales are actually falling instead of just generating billions upon billions of dollars?
What say you? Do you think iPad sales have fallen, or did Apple just finally catch up?
