Three Super Nintendo games are releasing on the eShop’s virtual console for the New Nintendo 3DS. These three games, basically, defined my childhood and who I am as a gamer today.
EarthBound, Super Mario Kart and Donkey Kong Country are releasing today on the SNES virtual console. Couple those with the already available Super Mario World, Pilotwings and
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (that’s not out yet, wishful thinking on my part) and you have the six games I played most growing up.
Remember, SNES games are only playable on the New Nintendo 3DS. Nintendo’s offered that this decision came as a result of processing power for emulation.
Each game will sell for the now standard price of $7.99 for SNES titles on the New Nintendo 3DS virtual console. EarthBound, though, is selling for $9.99. Of course, those who own a Wii U may have already purchased a few of these. Heck, you may have purchased Super Mario Kart and Donkey Kong Country several times now over the Wii, Wii U and original releases. The bad news? Nintendo is not offering a cross-buy discount here.
That’s bogus, my friends.
Still, whether you remember these games like the back of your hand or you’re looking to see why so many old-timers still feel love for these classics, now’s a great chance to dive in. I’ll be buying all three again… because I’m a complete sucker.
