HTC has begun rolling out its Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to One M9 owners living in the U.K. The upgrade will be available to those with an unlocked handset first, while those with a locked model can expect to receive it after it has been approved by their carrier.
HTC U.K. confirmed the rollout on Twitter this week, one month after Marshmallow was seeded to unlocked One M9 handsets in the U.S. This is the biggest upgrade HTC’s most recent flagship has received since making its debut last spring.
Alongside improvements to HTC Sense, the upgrade brings Marshmallow’s new app permissions system, Doze, Google Now on Tap, and a whole host of under-the-hood enhancements that should deliver better performance, battery life, and stability.
One thing this update will not include, however, is Android’s new emoji, which comes in Android 6.0.1 instead. One M9 owners should expect to see that later this year, though those with a One A9 are already getting it.
