Samsung has been pushing the boundaries of phone design with its edge series of curved screen devices for a few years already. Now a new concept design imagines how the company could go even further with its upcoming Galaxy S7 edge.
Created by Curved and Martin Hajek, this Galaxy S7 concept depicts a stunning new device with three curved edges. The left, right and bottom sides of the device are all connected by one continuos curve. Even the phone’s physical home button is built into the same flexible OLED panel. It looks pretty awesome, though we’re not sure how realistic this design actually is.
Another big change is the exposed microSD slot that comes built into the bottom edge of the device. It sits where you’d normally find a microUSB (or USB-C) charging port, and we’re not sure where this concept phone actually plugs in. The concept might rely entirely on wireless charging, but that seems pretty farfetched for a real device.
The Galaxy S7 is expected to arrive next month at Mobile World Congress, packing a Snapdragon 820 or Exynos 8890 chip, an upgraded camera and 4GB of RAM. Rumor has it the new phone will look pretty similar to last year’s design, but it’s still fun to imagine how the company might surprise us.
