As work continues at the Moscone Center in preparation for WWDC 2014, the name of OS 10.10 has been possibly revealed.
In recent trademark filings Apple has applied for the rights to both OS X El Cap for the El Capitan granite monolith in Yosemite, which just so happens the company has also filed for OS X Yosemite as a potential name. The latest banner to go up at the event site – following the iOS 8 banner from earlier – shows a picture of El Capitan. With two potential names in the trademark mix we can’t be perfectly clear on which name Apple is going with, but it seems fairly clearly it is one of the two. With the prominence of the rock formation in the photo, however, it seems fairly safe to predict that it will be OS X El Cap.
We’ll know for sure on Monday morning when Tim Cook takes to the stage and announces all of the latest features of the next iteration of OS X.
TechnoBuffalo will be at WWDC, so make sure to check back in on Monday for all of your Apple news from the event.
