Late last year LG unveiled the Chromebase, an all-in-one desktop computer running Google’s Chrome OS. The Chromebase hit the market in Australia last month, but now it’s finally coming to U.S. retailers.
LG’s Chromebase comes equipped with a 22-inch 1080p LCD display, an Intel Haswell processor, 16GB of SSD and 2GB of RAM. It also offers three USB 2.0 ports and one USB 3.0 port. The product represents an interesting new approach to Chrome OS, which has previously been relegated to Chromebook laptops and Chromebox mini computers. Buying all-in-one desktop means you won’t be able to use your device on the go, but at just $349 you’re getting a big display and a more-than-capable computer at a very good price.
Intel said the Chromebase will launch on May 26 and will be available from Amazon, Fry’s Electronics, Micro Center, Newegg and Tiger Direct. Any purchase also includes 100GB of free Google Drive storage for two years.
