There’s no doubt that the developer’s follow-up to Halo is looking gorgeous and fast paced. For Halo fans looking for something with a similar flavor but no Chiefs of Master level or otherwise.
The footage shows off the same area recently shown in a preview event on the Bungie campus, the Cosmodrome. The team of players takes on a variety of enemies, highlighting the different classes, as well as a bit of the story. The sense of scale and amount of activity are impressive and should provide some enjoyable spectacle.
As the follow-up to Halo, though, Destiny has some interesting challenges ahead of it, not too different from those faced by the team behind Titanfall at Respawn Entertainment. Creating the successor to one of the biggest franchises in the history of the medium is a tall order for any team. They’re tasked with not only creating something that lives up to the expectations of the millions of gamers familiar with their work, but also proving that this new game isn’t just a reskinning of that old game.
Destiny seems to have a more personal feel, but the connection to Halo feels clear even from this gameplay trailer. We’re sure to see more of the game at E3 in a month and a half, and we hope that’ll give us a better idea of what we can look forward to.
