The Galaxy S5 hasn’t even hit the market yet (at least in most countries), but Samsung is already prepping a follow-up “mini” version of the flagship handset. A new report from SamMobile offers up a list of leaked specs for the mid-range Galaxy S5 mini.
According to SamMobile’s anonymous insiders, the Galaxy S5 mini will come equipped with a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED 720p display, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter, 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a 2100mAh battery, a Snapdragon processor, an IR blaster, and Android 4.4 out of the box. We’re also expecting Samsung to stick with the dimpled plastic it introduced with the Galaxy S5, while leaving out flashier features like its fingerprint scanner and heart rate monitor, likely in an effort to keep costs down.
It’s still unclear when the device will launch or how much it will cost. We’re guessing the Galaxy S5 mini could hit the market early this summer and will cost significantly less than its flagship brother. Stay tuned for more coverage of Samsung’s new flagship and any upcoming variants in the near future.
