Office for iPad may finally arrive later this month at a press briefing set for March 27 in San Francisco. TechnoBuffalo received an invitation to the event earlier today, and it promises a briefing from recently-appointed CEO Satya Nadella with a focus on “the intersection of cloud and mobile computing.”
According to ZDNet‘s Mary Jo Foley, Nadella is all but certain to announce a version of Microsoft Office for iPad during the event. Citing several trusted sources, she notes that the release is expected before the end of the month, according to the latest timetables. Today’s news follows a recent report from ZDNet claiming Office for iPad would launch by July 2014. A separate report from Reuters revealed the new software was ready for release and Nadella was simply waiting for the right moment to pull the trigger.
Now it looks like that moment has arrived. Microsoft’s Office for iPad is expected to feature a somewhat limited version of the company’s software suite, offering Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote. We won’t know anything for sure until March 27, when the even kicks off at 10 a.m. Pacific Time. We’ll be watching closely for what will likely be Nadella’s first major announcement as CEO of the software giant.
