Apple iPhone 5s-VS-5c-Screen

Frequent Apple commentator John Gruber of Daring Fireball took to his blog on Tuesday to deliver a bit of good news. While iOS 7.1 is currently in late beta stages, apparently we can expect the full release to come soon – perhaps just before Apple’s iTunes Festival that will take place between March 11 and March 15 at SXSW in Austin, Texas.

“Apple is going to stream the performances to iOS devices using an app, but I’ve heard from a little birdie that the app requires iOS 7.1 (which explains why the app isn’t out yet),” Gruber said on his blog Tuesday. “That means iOS 7.1 should ship any day now.” iOS 7.1 beta 5 was shipped to developers in early February, about a month ago, though usually Apple will release a GM, or Gold Master, version before the public release of an update. In this case, that might not happen.

iOS 7.1 makes a few tweaks to the user interface, a lot of which is visible in the dialer and when you place phone calls. 9to5Mac also reported earlier that it will improve the performance drastically, add some tweaks to the calendar and remove a few bugs. Apple will no doubt want to have the iTunes Festival streaming app on as many devices as possible before March 11, so hopefully iOS 7.1 does indeed hit soon.
