Kickstarter CEO Yancey Strickler took to the company blog to inform users that it had been hacked and that some customer data has been accessed by hackers. Kickstarter was informed by law enforcement officials last week of the breach and has since taken action to correct the security flaw.
Strickler goes on to state that while no customer payment data had been accessed usernames, email addresses, mailing address, phone numbers and encrypted passwords have been compromised. Kickstarter recommends users reset their passwords to avoid any possible affects of this breach.
Considering how easy it is to access additional personal information with the aforementioned items it’s probably best to keep tabs on your credit/payment information if you’ve used Kickstarter in the past.
