We’ve seen plenty of rumors thrown around surrounding the Galaxy S5 over the past few months, but today a photo of what appears to be the handset’s official packaging may have finally confirmed the device’s specifications. Samsung is expected to pack the Galaxy S5 with the best components around, and the latest rumored specs don’t disappoint.
The cropped photo features the same layout and coloring as the packaging used to sell the Galaxy S4. This time, however, Samsung’s flagship smartphone has been updated with a 2.5GHz quad-core processor, a 20-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, 3GB of RAM and a 3000mAh battery. The most interesting spec here is the display. The New York Times said Samsung wasn’t going to add a quad-HD screen on this device, instead sticking with a 1080p resolution. However, the specs here point to a quad HD display measuring 5.25-inches. Perhaps we will see something super high-res after all.
It looks like the Galaxy S5 will be a real beast – should these specs prove to be true, that is – though that’s generally been Samsung’s strategy when it comes to flagship phones. We’re still waiting to see the company’s revamped TouchWiz UI as well as the handset’s physical design, though it won’t be long before the device gets an official unveiling. Samsung appears to be set to announce the Galaxy S5 later this month at Mobile World Congress 2014 in just a few weeks.
