SamMobile has shared a handful of new screenshots, said to be of Samsung’s updated S Health and S Voice apps, before any formal announcement. Like a previous Samsung leak, the images were swiped off a device carrying the model number SM-G900H, which many consider to be the Galaxy S5. Incidentally, the latest rumors claim we’ll see that very same device unveiled at Mobile World Congress later this month.
The apps appear to feature a more minimal look compared to previous Samsung software, fitting in more naturally with the most current version of Android, 4.4 KitKat. A recent report claimed Google wanted Samsung to tone down its heavy Android tweaks, and these screenshots further add weight to that claim. Think of the apps in context of going from iOS 6 to iOS 7; the S Health app, which we saw the other day, doesn’t feature a ton of big changes, but the S Voice experience is noticeably different. SamMobile recently shared an alleged app, called “Life Times,” Samsung is set to announce soon.
Samsung has an Unpacked event scheduled for Feb. 24 at MWC, where we’ll likely find out all about the company’s mobile future. Do these screenshots indicate a big change coming to TouchWiz? It would appear Samsung has indeed adopted a different approach, but we won’t officially know until later this month.
