Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3 is still a relatively new handset, but considering that phone makers need to start development of devices far ahead of the launch, there’s no doubt that Samsung is already working on its next phablet. In a report from Bloomberg that discussed Samsung’s Galaxy S5, the news outlet also revealed a tidbit on the Galaxy Note 4.
Bloomberg said it has learned that Samsung is considering using a display that spills over the sides of the smartphone, or a three-sided display. That could allow the device to display certain information along the edges of the device. Imagine news or stock tickers streaming down the side, or quick access to video and music controls. Anything would be possible with added displays, and it would theoretically remove any bezels around the screen — something that phone makers have been racing to do.
Bloomberg said that Samsung is currently working to push out the Note 4 during the second half of this year. It’s possible we’ll hear an announcement during Mobile World Congress next month, though that may be a bit early.
