We saw plenty of new smartwatch entries in 2013, but Pebble, originally a Kickstarter campaign, was perhaps the most impressive, pairing excellent battery life, good looks and ever-expanding functionality. The company recently revealed that an app store is on the way, but there’s even bigger news to come.
On Pebble’s blog on Thursday, the company teased a big unveil set for Jan. 6 at 11 a.m. PT, the first big day of CES. What will we see? The company didn’t say, though there seems to be some rumors bouncing around regarding new hardware. New year, new app store, new hardware; you see the pattern?
Pebble plans on streaming the even on its website, so anyone who can’t attend the show can look on. The company acknowledges that early adopters were a big part of Pebble’s success, and that those fans “won’t want to miss the news.” Since the Pebble team will be in attendance at CES, hopefully we can get a first-hand look at whatever it is the company has planned. By the way the blog post is worded, it suggests to us the hardware rumors might be true. Of course, we won’t know until Pebble officially unveils whatever it is on Jan. 6.
