Qualcomm’s Toq smartwatch launched through the company’s own online store earlier this month, and now the wearable device is available from Amazon at the same $349.99 price point. There are a few advantages to ordering through Amazon—from the company’s new charity program to free shipping for Prime members—though the online retailer is only offering the device in black while Qualcomm also sells a white model.
The Qualcomm Toq comes equipped with a capacitive 1.5-inch low-powered Mirasol display with a built-in backlight, a touchpad, wireless charging, and a battery the company claims will last five days. The device runs on its own operating system, but syncs with Android 4.0 and higher to show incoming notifications via a Bluetooth connection. It also allows the user to respond with pre-set messages, comes with a few widgets, and includes an API for developers to create new apps.
After spending some hands on time with Qualcomm’s smartwatch we came away impressed. Toq features a sleek design, a beautiful display and great battery life. At $350 it’s definitely not a cheap decision, but if you’re looking to buy a smartwatch we wouldn’t rule out this one.
