Google on Tuesday officially launched Google Play for Education, a portal designed for schools that attempts to simplify the discovery of educational apps.

Educators will have access to purchasing apps in bulk, which can than be instantly distributed via the cloud to students’ Android tablets. Videos and other educational content will also be available in the new portal, which will offer content targeted to kids K-12. In its announcement, Google said if you have an app designed for education, Google Play for Education is the perfect opportunity to get noticed; apps will need to be optimized for 7-inch and 10-inch screens.

Developers of existing educational Android apps can use the developer console to mark their app for inclusion in the new initiative. For a more thorough understanding of what Google Play for Education has to offer, check out the above video.
