Some iPhone 5s users have been noting battery life problems with their smartphones, though TechnoBuffalo hasn’t seen any issues on our units. Apple has admitted publicly that some units might have been affected during manufacturing and recently issued a statement confirming the problem.
“We recently discovered a manufacturing issue affecting a very limited number of iPhone 5s devices that could cause the battery to take longer to charge or result in reduced battery life,” an Apple spokesperson told The New York Times. “We are reaching out to customers with affected phones and will provide them with a replacement phone.”
If you receive an email from Apple, we highly suggest you take the company up on the offer. That’s one of the nice things about replaceable batteries in other phones: with an issue, you can easily swap out the battery instead of the entire device. Still, we applaud Apple for pinpointing the affected phones and for reaching out to customers instead of waiting for a customer to walk into an Apple Store with a problem. Right now it sounds like a limited batch of iPhone 5s phones are affected, and The New York Times estimates the figure to be in the thousands of units, rather than millions of iPhones.
